"First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift." — Matthew 5:24

What This Is

Purpose of This Resource

Most apologies fail — not because the person is insincere, but because they are incomplete. A real apology is not a sentence. It is a process. It requires honest acknowledgment of what happened, genuine ownership of the damage caused, and a deliberate decision to realign with the covenant.

These two worksheets walk each spouse through that process — privately first, then together — in the correct order. The goal is not to prepare your defense. The goal is to prepare your heart.

The 3-Step Framework

1

Acknowledge

Name what happened honestly. No minimizing. No justifying. No blaming.

2

Atone

Take full ownership. Remorse without action is just words.

3

Align

Rebuild the bridge. Reconnect to the covenant.

How to Use These Worksheets

1
Each spouse downloads and completes the Individual Worksheet privately — before any conversation.
2
Work through all three steps in order. Do not skip ahead.
3
Once both spouses have completed their individual worksheets, open the Joint Worksheet together.
4
Read your individual answers aloud, complete the joint sections together, and sign the Joint Declaration.
